Applications are being accepted for a Public Health Education Specialist for the Dare County Health Department. This position will promote, maintain and improve students’ health by delivering substance abuse prevention programs in Dare County Schools and in the community and by providing leadership for curricular, policy and environmental changes to positively impact students’ health.
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in health education and one year of experience in public health education or a related field; or graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of experience in public health education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) preferred but not required.
A valid NC Drivers License and pre-employment drug test required. Full salary range: $32,336-$51,739.

Independent Practitioner for the Substance Abuse

Dare County Department of Public Health is seeking an Independent Practitioner for the Substance
Abuse Demonstration Project. The independent Practitioner will provide screening, evaluation, and
diagnostic assessments at an outpatient substance abuse treatment facility. Responsibilities include
developing treatment goals and person centered plans, treatment, after-care, and referral services for
adolescents and adults in need of substance abuse treatment. This position will maintain accurate and
up to date client records and referral sources, maintain a therapeutic environment, and promote
appropriate and health interpersonal behavior. This position requires the ability to work independently
in a mutually respectful partnership with the persons served and their families. Qualifications: Must
possess at a minimum a master’s degree and hold an unrestricted license, certificate, or registration
issued by the board regulating the profession in question, in one of the following disciplines: PHD,
Psychologist, LCSW, LPC, or LCAS. Current NC Drivers license required. Starting salary range:
